Stars Celebrate ‘Queen’ Cicely Tyson on Her 96th Birthday

Celebrities from around the world sent their warmest wishes to iconic actress, Cicely Tyson.

• Last Saturday, American actress and former fashion model, Cicely Tyson, celebrated her 96th birthday. Tyson is most known for her decades-long career of playing strong African-American women in both television and film.
• The Emmy and Tony award-winning actress is mostly known for her performances in The Help, How to Get Away with Murder, The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, and Sounder.
• Black Hollywood entertainers reacted to the queen’s birthday in a series of heart-warming social media messages. Viola Davis posted a photo with the actress on Instagram writing, “There are certain people that come into this world and their lifeforce creates a powerful inspiring explosion. We get the overflow!! I thank God for creating this beautiful, courageous and bold being 96 years ago. Love you Ms. Tyson!! Happy birthday.” Other warm wishes were also sent to Tyson from collaborator Tyler Perry, costar Kerry Washington, actress Yara Shahidi, godson Lenny Kravitz, and many more!

• Currently, Tyson is preparing to release a memoir titled Just As I Am. The book captures her authentic life and emotions while gracing the stage for the last six decades. According to People Magazine, it is set to be published on January 26th, 2021.
