  • Last Saturday, American actress and former fashion model, Cicely Tyson, celebrated her 96th birthday. Tyson is most known for her decades-long career of playing strong African-American women in both television and film.
  • The Emmy and Tony award-winning actress is mostly known for her performances in The Help, How to Get Away with Murder, The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, and Sounder.
  • Black Hollywood entertainers reacted to the queen’s birthday in a series of heart-warming social media messages. Viola Davis posted a photo with the actress on Instagram writing, “There are certain people that come into this world and their lifeforce creates a powerful inspiring explosion. We get the overflow!! I thank God for creating this beautiful, courageous and bold being 96 years ago. Love you Ms. Tyson!!
